Interview with Namratha Varadharajan, Author of ‘Because Someone Had To Say It’ #ashasks

August 1, 2018 by ashwini No Comments
Namy- Favourites

Today I have the privilege of sharing an interview with one of the finest budding poets I have come across. I remember reading each poem and wondering ‘How beautiful! How profound!’ I would picture it all very clearly and I would nearly always get goosebumps at the end of each poem because the words moved me in the most wonderful way.

Namratha Varadharajan or Namy as she is fondly known, has written an incredible collection of poems each of which is an ode to an important social organization, movement or cause. ‘Because Someone Had To Say It’ is idealistic but not preachy. The book puts the spotlight on important issues but not in an attention-grabbing way.

As a lover of poetry, I took this opportunity to ask Namy about her thoughts on the genre. And her answers surely helped me appreciate it so much more. My favourite part of the interview? When I asked her if she could be a season, which one she could be and she replied in verse!! 🙂

This mom, wife and talented writer’s ideal day would include ginger tea, her family, petrichor and a delectable book. Time to get to know Namy better!

Interview with Deepa, Author of ‘Healthy Recipe Cookbook’ #ashasks

July 31, 2018 by ashwini No Comments
Deepa Favourites

I usually lack the patience to cook elaborate meals. Truth be told, patience is something I do not possess at all! Everything should have taken place yesterday! For somebody like me, a book that has recipes for creating healthy home-cooks dishes in under 30 minutes is a big boon! Today you are going to meet the author of this incredible book, ‘Healthy Recipe Cookbook’.

Deepa Gandhi is a Freelance Dietician and a Writer. Deepa also writes about parenting, health & travel. She shares her experiences as a mom and as a nutritionist in her blog www.kreativemommy.com. Her first book, ‘Parenting Tips & Tricks’ was born out of her own parenting journey of raising two young girls. She credits her children for her current book as well. I asked Deepa about her favourite recipe from the book and the one guilty pleasure she allows herself. These and several other tidbits about the author are revealed further in the interview.

Interview with Reema, Author of ‘Peiskos’ #ashasks

July 30, 2018 by ashwini No Comments
REEMA- Favourites

Reema is one of the authors whose work helps her form a bond with her readers. Her stories take you on an emotional journey. Her book is a treasure for logophiles. Even if you don’t love words in general, who won’t fall in love in love with ‘Ikigai’? 😉 She chose 26 rare words and wove intense stories around them in her book ‘Peiskos’. If you ask her though,  it is rhymed poetry that takes her to a different world. She is an engineer by day but writing poetry and fiction give her the much-needed escape from reality. When she’s not writing (code or creative), she prefers to read. Give her a good book, some fresh air and some food and she promises not to disturb you until she finishes the book. She is a person of extreme personalities. She is a lover of nature and natural surroundings give her a high. At the same time she can’t sit idle and gets irritated if she has nothing to for too long!

She is also the author of two more books, ‘Life’ and ‘Times of a Twenty Something’.

Aren’t you excited to meet Reema D’Souza? I am sure you would love to know her favorite word from her book and the one word would she like to invent? Read on to find out… 🙂

Interview with Monika Davessar, Author of ‘Astitva’ #ashasks

Monika's Favourites

As much as I have been enjoying getting to know some amazing authors in the past week, nothing gives me more pleasure or pride than speaking to a fellow Feminist. I’ve been more than surprised to know that a lot of people refrain from being called Feminists even though they say they believe in the principle of equality and also advocate it. This has been a huge bone of contention for me. And what better way than to ask an author with a strong voice to clear the air about the real meaning of Feminism? I am extremely thrilled to introduce…Monika Davessar.

Monika Davessar loves learning new things and blogging is her recent interest. Her book ‘Astitiva’ is a collection of poignant yet powerful stories centring around women empowerment. As a writer, she gets emotionally invested in her stories and as she will reveal later, one of them even got her teary-eyed. So without any further ado, let us get to know Monika better.
